Inspiring women — Sarah, beauty in the everyday
Rusty hues, super positive vibes, beauty in the everyday... there's nothing we don't like about Sarah's candid photographs. She's super inspiring for us so we thought it was a good idea interviewing her to know a bit more.
Let's meet Sarah!
Ahoy Sarah! Welcome to our journal! We are very happy having you with us today. Could you please introduce yourself? Where are you from? What do you do?
Hi! I'm Sarah. I'm married and have 3 kids (all boys). I live in a small village between Antwerp and Brussels and I work as an administrative assistant in a small company.
You portray your everyday life with your beautiful family in your Instagram account in such a natural and authentic way. Do you enjoy photography? What’s your “relationship” with it?
I grew up taking pictures, you can say it runs in the family. When we where young my parents took pictures on every family occasion, and they still do it. I, as well as my brother and sister, have inherited this habit, that way we always have nice photos of all the fun moments in our lives.
Your Instagram account is in fact the only channel where we can find you or know about you: there’s no website on your profile, not even your surname! Are you a mysterious woman or just a reserved one?
Taking pictures started out as a hobby and Instagram was the perfect tool to digitally collect my pictures. Therefore Instagram is the only channel where you can find me.
I don't always find it easy to publicly share personal information, sometimes images just say a lot more.
I never had the idea of starting a blog, blogging is very intensive and I’m a working mom, so sometimes I have no clue how all bloggermoms juggle it all. Instagram is more free of obligation for me.
Because of instagram, I got to know very nice people but I must say, I am always a bit reserved, because people sometimes find it very easy to give their opinion via social media, because the boundary is much smaller than in real life.
What we love the most about your account is the great taste in interiors and design that you have. Where does it come from?
Thank you! I can take the time to look for the perfect piece to add to my interior. I like old authentic things, things with a soul, objects that have a story to tell. For example, we recieved the furniture in our livingroom from a friend whose grandmother had passed away. We have sanded and painted them in trendy colors. They now have a second life, and look pretty cool in our interior. Flea markets are my favorite!
Of course, we noticed you like to use — for you and your children, smallish and independent brands. What do you like about Don Fisher?
I have a huge admiration for people who turn their passion into their profession. Smaller brands that often have to compete with large multinationals or large players, that's not always an honest feeling. With smaller brands you simply notice that the people are involved in the entire process from A to Z, from creation to the finished product, and that creates a bond with the customer. I like brands with a story.
I'm fascinated by fish. I have a diving license and am always surprised by the underwater beauty. I find your collections, both for adults and for children, graphically well tought-out, made with good materials, but also very practical. That way you always have a great original product!
Well, thank you so much, Sarah! It was a pleasure getting to know you and your life a bit more. Of course, we will keep on following your adventures with your beautiful family on your Instagram account ♡
