Inspiring Women — Claudia Cabrero, from Passion to Profession in the World of photography
What initially inspired you to pursue a career in photography?
I started taking photography courses after having my second daughter. A friend recommended some online courses and I opened my current Instagram profile in order to keep the memories of my daughters' childhood. Little by little I got hooked and the world of fashion that I was passionate about since I was a little girl joined this hobby. From there came collaborations, editorials, and fashion catalogs and today it has become a job for me.
Could you share with us how you approach the creative process to find the uniqueness in each scene you capture?
Photographing children is a very good exercise in photography to learn how to capture the right moment. Trial and error have been my school and my daughters my muses. I try to make my photos tell a story and transmit feelings, sometimes through the colors, sometimes through the environment... I enjoy it a lot and it gives me great satisfaction.
Do you think your creative process has changed a lot since you started?
I think the creative process is constantly evolving, which makes you keep shooting photos, because otherwise it would be very boring, at least for me ;) I like to try new things, try new techniques and so I don't lose my enthusiasm for taking pictures.
Would you say that your connection with France, specifically Paris, is reflected in your projects?
Yes, I think that everyone's photography reflects what he or she has lived, so both my time in France and my summers in the village have marked my photos. And especially my father's analog photography has been a great influence for me.
Could you share a challenging moment or obstacle you have faced during your career and how you overcame it?
I love challenges, it's precisely what motivates me the most in this world of photography. Without a doubt, shooting my first fashion catalog for a girls' clothing brand was the first challenge I've faced, but the motivation and desire I put into it is so great that the challenge turned into an adventure that has taught me many things.
What advice would you give to aspiring photographers looking to make their way in the industry, especially those who are passionate about capturing stories and moments that often go unnoticed?
I would tell them to be driven by their emotions and to enjoy themselves a lot. To challenge themselves and to never stop experiencing things and connecting with people in the photography world.
